Frequently asked questions
Everything we get asked most, answered plainly.
No. Listeners are not therapists, counselors, or clinicians, and a session is not a substitute for mental health treatment. It's a space to talk and be heard — nothing clinical happens.
No, even then. Listeners are trained to gently decline giving advice, opinions, or suggestions, no matter how directly they're asked. Their role stays the same throughout: listening.
No. Listeners won't label, assess, or diagnose anything you share, mental health or otherwise. That's outside their role and outside their training.
Anything you want — work, relationships, a decision you're stuck on, grief, a rough week, or nothing in particular. There's no required topic and no wrong thing to bring up.
No. The Listening Post is not equipped to respond to emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
We're still finalizing our listener program, including training and vetting. We'll share full details before the service opens. What we can say now: listeners are chosen and trained specifically to listen without steering the conversation.
Privacy is a core design principle for us. We're working out the specifics of how conversations are (or aren't) recorded and retained, and we'll be transparent about that before the service launches.
Pricing hasn't been finalized. We're still in early development and want to get the experience right before settling on a model. Join the early list and we'll share pricing details as they take shape.
We don't have a public launch date yet. We're testing with a small group first. Sign up for the early list and we'll reach out as soon as spots open up.
